Black Sheep Poetry is a weekly reflection along the lonely road away from collective chaos. Standing tall in a culture pushing us to make our individuality second to the group doesn’t just require intellectual strength, but emotional fortitude.

Let Yourself See
Here, There is no need to meditate. No need to shut your eyes Or clear your mind of mundane frustrations Of life. Here, The earth does it for you. Take it all in. Here, Where wind meets water Then meets your skin; Gently Humming and splashing As water laps against the shore. Here, Where mighty trees grow tall On rock mounds born eons ago. Standing formidably, Barricading you from the wider world, Immersing you in their strength. But here, Where the water meets the land Tree roots struggle to hold. Time, wind, and water pull land from beneath them Slowly eroding their stability They fall towards inevitability. So many years So much energy To build a solid base. Reaching up towards the sky While all you’ve built beneath Goes washing by. One day, gravity will win. One day, you will find yourself Falling back to earth Splashing into eternity. Here, There is no need to meditate. You must open your eyes And take it all in.
